Growing up, Patty’s family moved around the country, ending up in Baton
Rouge, Louisiana where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Louisiana State University. After school, she landed in Thousand Oaks working for a hi-tech software company managing a group of 10 engineers.

Living in Camarillo, Patty has seen the city grow from a population of 42,600
to 71,849. She is married to Larry Lerner and will be celebrating their 33^rd
anniversary this year. Their two children have grown up in Camarillo attending
Tierra Linda Elementary School and Las Colinas Middle School. The education
they received from Pleasant Valley School District prepared them for high school and beyond.

The day her first born entered kindergarten, Patty became involved with
Pleasant Valley School District.  She started in the classroom collecting milk
money and working in classroom enrichment centers. She quickly became an active member of PTA taking on leadership roles such as chairing Book Fairs, and Jog-a-thon. Before long she was the PTA President at Tierra Linda and served for 2 and a half years. She then moved on to lead the district wide PTA Council serving for 3 years. During this time Patty served on a variety of district committees including school site council, school boundary committee, and budget committee.

In 2006 Patty was elected as Trustee for the Pleasant Valley School District, serving one four-year term. As a Trustee, she provided leadership as an advocate for children and the school district.  Patty earned the reputation of someone who is honest, collaborative, and keeps what is best for students the focus of decision making. Since serving on the school board, she has volunteered on the board of Camarillo Academic Olympics and was Chairman of the Measure C Citizen’s Oversight Committee.

In 2021 long time Trustee, Suzanne Kitchens, passed away leaving a vacancy
on the PVSD school board.  After a thorough application and interview process, the remaining board members unanimously appointed Patty Lerner to serve as trustee until the next general election. Patty is now a candidate for the two-year Trustee position.

Patty Lerner’s years of experience with PVSD has proven her dedication to all
our children. Let’s help her continue to provide balanced, student focused leadership.
